My artistic process, my influences and my intentions
I suggest you first discover, below, the four universes in which my works are situated: Harmonic Promenade, Joy, Emergence and Tridim.
They are the result of a process that began with my first steps in the practice of rye straw marquetry, the stages of which I detail a little further down on this same page.

HARMONIC WALK
HARMONIC WALK with subtle bluish accents, encourages the harmonious calming of relationships with oneself and with others.
This universe reminds us of our capacity for resilience, particularly in the complex and stressful society in which we live today, and encourages us to support each other rather than fight each other.
Here, ATTRACTION freezes the mental pressure for a moment.
JOY
AIn French "ALLEGRESSE" celebrates the different kingdoms and the importance of their positive interaction with us: the invigorating energy of nature, the power of the oceans, the infinite reach of the heavens, the rich crucible of the earth, the energetic power of stones, the buzzing of bees, and the presence and support of our fellow animals and humans. Warm and vibrant, the orange hues of this universe remind us of our natural capacity for wonder. Here, ECLAT (Radiance) is where materiality fades into the subtle.
EMERGENCE
EMERGENCE celebrates light, in havana, ochre and gold, encouraging the emergence of dreams, aspirations and projects.
It testifies to humanity's capacity for transcendence, an allegory of the passage of time, of the diversity of what we can dedicate it to, in all areas. Here, ALCHEMY, where mica resonates with gold leaf while the marquetry draws sustenance from it and radiates, just as humanity can nourish its own evolution.
TRIDIM
TRIDIM suggests another perception of the space around us and another relationship with nature.
It encourages us to look differently, to go beyond appearances. Thanks to these three-dimensional aspects, the mind wanders, and the imagination takes over. The hidden meaning of things is then revealed.
This is EDEN, where the mind travels and recharges in the labyrinth of abundant nature.
How did I come to define my universes?
While researching the origins and evolution of straw marquetry, both in France and internationally, I made several observations. These gradually allowed me to define my own approach. I outline this process below.
Among the delicate, multicolored marquetry boxes from the 17th century,
and wall coverings and other contemporary items from major luxury brands,
with repeated monochrome patterns,
how can straw marquetry artists position themselves today?
What struck me about current trends is that practices are mainly focused on the perfection of a rendering with patterns that are often quite standardized and rather homogeneous, with muted shades, mostly in gold, Havana or anthracite.
We are also seeing the emergence of a new generation of objects with more vibrant colors, but intended for the ultra-luxury markets.
Indeed, straw, which is naturally light beige,
can be dyed in all colors by natural or chemical processes.
Even better, as its growth varies according to the weather or temperature, the color change offers sumptuous gradients depending on the density of the material.
The result is a palette with delicate nuances and surprising shimmers depending on the ambient light and the time of day.
The delicacy of the rendering allows it to be a subtle vehicle for emotions.
This is precisely what prompted me to distinguish myself from current practices which are generally decorative, by working with straw as a painter or sculptor would.
Straw marquetry has thus become a means of expression for me.
The public's astonishment and delight at the results inspired me to work on the artworks
to messages of renewal, desires, self-confidence and hope.
Straw marquetry, a conduit of beauty...
I have thus outlined four universes under the evocative titles: Harmonic Promenade, Joy, Emergence and Tridim.
Each universe offers a unique and colorful expression specific to its theme. Each expresses a human perspective on society, on oneself, on one's capacity to act, and on others and the world around us. For each one, I wanted to deliver a constructive message, suggest pathways, open up new perspectives, and reaffirm my faith in humanity and its capacity for self-transcendence.
Straw marquetry, a conduit for emotions...
I suggest you consider straw marquetry not only as a decorative element, but also as an artistic language, a vehicle for emotions and communication.
You can use it with others to whom you wish to show love, friendship, comfort or tenderness. Some have already asked me to work on it, and you will find, in the Kaleidoscope section of the Gallery, some examples of what we have achieved together, to the great delight of the recipients.
