How was Muduna born?

Muriel Dunoyer Nardi lives in the Southwest of France. She has been practicing straw marquetry since 2024 and is successfully opening up new horizons for it.

Muriel initially pursued a brilliant international career in strategic marketing, where she helped international companies perceive trends and supported their teams in engaging with them.

Temporarily limited in her mobility, she became interested in straw marquetry, first on her own, then by following the work of French and international professionals. She benefited from training at the École Boulle in Paris, which marked the true beginning of a creative process that led her to establish a cultural association for the support and development of rye straw marquetry, under the name Muduna.

Contrary to the primarily decorative and highly exclusive rise of this art, she perceives its capacity to become a vehicle for emotions for all audiences in the same way as painting or sculpture.

She develops a path in four UNIVERSES with specific colour ranges: Harmonic Promenade, Joy, Emergence and Tridim. She strives to stimulate or reveal the talents sometimes ignored, or repressed, which allow human beings to express themselves and flourish beyond their mere material condition.

Muriel also explores materials and combines, in R&D , rye straw marquetry with stone, mother-of-pearl or metal alloys with accents of gold, silver or copper.

The variety and vitality of her productions, which can be discovered in her digital GALLERY , quickly attract attention.

She primarily creates wall art and has recently begun applying her skills to the world of upcycling or the repurposing of meaningful objects. She is currently working on a violin that is beyond repair due to a crack in its soundboard.

She is said to be passionate and fascinating. In EXHIBITIONS , she appeals to young audiences as well as more discerning or mature viewers, to the general public as well as specialists or collectors.

From the moment her works received their first awards , her website www.muduna.org began receiving visits from all over the world: Europe, the United States, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, India…

Promoting straw marquetry, a living French heritage

Rye Straw marquetry, which originated in France in the 17th century, is part of France's living cultural heritage.

Indeed, having disappeared for many years, this art is once again acclaimed in the biggest international exhibitions.

It can be found in the decoration of very high-end boutiques like Cartier or in watches at Hermès.

It seemed appropriate to contribute to making it known, disseminating it and communicating its know-how to the widest possible audience.

This is why the Muduna Straw Marquetry cultural association was formed to work on it.

This also allows this art to be introduced into SPECIAL PROJECTS and to run workshops for French or foreign audiences to discover and demonstrate rye straw marquetry.
