Marquetry
of straw
In
all its states!
How was Muduna born?

Originally from Nouvelle-Aquitaine, I have always felt drawn to art in all its forms. I discovered watercolor in the Netherlands, then acrylic and clay sculpture once back in France.
Living in Paris, I noticed the emergence of straw marquetry works, integrated by designers into the design of high-end boutiques, then into furniture, and finally into decorative elements.
I decided to give it a try. I immediately appreciated the feel of the straw as well as the discipline and rigorous concentration that marquetry requires. I enjoyed pre-drawing the compositions and then seeing them gradually come to life as the straw was placed on them.
"I find the same pleasure in it as I do with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach!"
Wanting to progress, I then focused on receiving quality training, feeling that this practice could have a powerful future in my life. I thus followed a training at L'Ecole Boulle in Paris, which constituted the decisive starting point of my practice under the artist name "Muduna".

Promoting straw marquetry, a living French heritage
Straw marquetry, born in France since the 16th century, is part of France's living cultural heritage.
Indeed, having disappeared for many years, this art is once again popular in the biggest international exhibitions.
We find it in the decoration of very high-end boutiques like Cartier or in watches at Hermès.
It seemed appropriate to me to contribute to making it known, disseminating it and communicating its know-how to as many people as possible.
This is why I wanted to set up the Muduna Straw Marquetry cultural association to work there.
From the first year in 2024, the works carried by MUDUNA received their first Distinctions to be discovered on the page of the same name !
